Fovar

A shared treasury for community groups · iOS, Android and web

Thousands of groups run their money out of one person’s current account and a notebook — diaspora associations, hometown unions, youth groups, savings clubs, mutual‑aid funds. It works until somebody asks what the balance is, and then it depends entirely on one person’s memory and goodwill.

Fovar gives the group one account instead: dues collected on a schedule, a balance every member can check, and a rule that money only leaves when more than one officer says so.

Dues, collected on a schedule
Members are charged on the day the group agreed, from a bank account they linked themselves. Nobody has to chase anybody.
A ledger the whole group can read
Every contribution and every payment is a line any member can open. It is append-only — entries are corrected by a reversal that stays visible, never by an edit.
Two signatures before money leaves
Withdrawals need a quorum of officers. If the destination changes after the signatures are given, the signatures are void and the request stops.
Sub-funds, kept apart
A group can hold a welfare fund and a building fund in one account without either one quietly paying for the other.
Withdrawals to the group's own bank
An approved withdrawal is transferred to an external bank account in the account holder's name. Standard transfer takes one to two business days and is free; an instant option is available for a fee, shown before anyone confirms.

Where the money sits

nbdomains LLC is not a bank and does not hold deposits. Funds are held and moved by our regulated payment partners, and bank connections are made through Plaid — the group’s own banking credentials are entered on Plaid’s screen and never reach us. What we keep is the record of who contributed what, and who approved what leaving.

A group is not issued a bank account and is not given a card to spend from. Money is pooled in the group’s balance, and the only way out is a withdrawal that the group’s own officers have approved, sent to an external bank account in the account holder’s name. There is no other door.

The detail is in the Privacy Policy and the Terms of Service, both of which say the awkward parts out loud.
